The Choir

The Emilia-Romagna Youth Choir, born in February 2017 by the will of A.E.R.CO., is made up of choristers from the regional territory aged between 18 and 35 years. One of the main objectives of the project is to become a valid example for the choirs of the region: an emblem of quality, commitment, responsibility and a pole for the enhancement of internal resources. To achieve this ambitious goal, the rehearsals are structured into study days on a monthly basis in which the singers, with considerable commitment, grit and enthusiasm, meet in the Bolognese capital. The repertoire embraces multiple styles in order to capture the different sensitivities of those who are part of it in a context of mutual respect and listening. The choir performed at the AERCO Regional Assemblies in Parma, Rimini and Ferrara, at the prestigious “CantaBO” Choral Festival, at the “Roffi” event, at the “Gaudeamus in Musica” event, at the “Fiumi di Voci” and “Voci in the Cloisters”. In 2021 it was also a laboratory choir in the masterclass held in Parma by Maestro John Rutter. In 2022 he was selected to participate in the “Voci d’Italia” Choral Competition. In the same year he was commissioned to perform the finalist pieces of the “Pier Paolo Pasolini” Composition Competition organized by the “G. and A. Giovannini” of Reggio Emilia. There are also numerous musical encounters with youth choirs from the region, both Italian and international. Deciding to be part of an experience like that of the Regional Youth Choir means discovering new repertoires and meeting other young people with whom to share efforts and satisfactions. This path not only enriches the students but also the choirs of origin. The boys, who however continue their normal choral activity, are encouraged to share this experience with the directors of their choirs with a view to the global growth of the movement and an increasingly close network of collaborations between choirs. Last but not least, the choir is part of a context of youth choirs that goes beyond Emilia-Romagna and which gives the possibility of reaching the World Youth Choir through the Italian and European Youth Choirs. Requirements for submitting the application are the age of less than 35 years and, preferably, residence in the region. An exception is made for those who temporarily reside in Emilia-Romagna for study reasons.
